I need some legal advice?

My husband and I relocated to North Carolina for his new job. He was promised full time work, 40 hours a week, and a 600 hundred dollar a week paycheck. He was hired based on his skills and references. He has been at his new job for 3 weeks, and he is constantly being harassed. He has 22 years experience in auto body repair, and he is now being told he can't do his job right, he is now being sent home early everyday because there is no work to do (when he was promised there was more than enough), his pay has been cut by 5 dollars an hour. None of the paychecks he has received have been anywhere near promised. We have been trying to get government assistance until we can get back on our feet, and his employer has lied to the agency saying he is making more money than he really is. Are there any laws in the state of North Carolina that protect workers against harassment like this? Is there any legal action we can take?I need some legal advice?
You should call your local legal services department, or a local lawyer in your area, and ask for a free consultation on what you can do. With the proof that you say that you have, you will probably have a fairly easy time. Also, you should go through the labor relations board about this issue too.I need some legal advice?
What you are calling ';harassment'; legally isn't. If they aren't happy with how he's doing the job, they have a right to tell him so. And sending him home early if there isn't enough work is legal even if it does give a severe hit to your family budget. The $5 an hour cut is also legal if he's still over minimum wage. No legal action you can take.

I'm not trying to make light of this. It's a lousy situation. People all over are in bad situations right now, you're not alone. Sounds like the company is struggling so the employees will struggle right along with them.

The one thing that you might be able to do something about - you said the company has lied to the agency about what he makes. You don't give a lot of detail there. Are you talking about some government based social services agency? Is what they reported what he'd be making if he was working full time as scheduled instead of the hours he's really working? If so, you could show the agency his paystubs on what he is REALLY getting.
