Please Give Me Legal Advice?

Three weeks ago I started a job, which was temp-to-perm. I was starting a job working for an investment company as an analyst. When I started the job, I was not given any of the tasks that were on the job spec. Instead I was given dividends to process and payments to look after. I was told that this was only going to be for the short term, and afterwards once I got the hang of everything I was I was going to be given the tasks that I was originally assigned for.

On Thursday, I was told by my head that ';I have to let you go';. The reason that I was given was that I had made too many mistakes. Although I did make mistakes, they were minor mistakes that anyone would make in a brand new job. They were not to the extent that would merit dismissal.

From what I have understood, the same thing has happened to many other people who were hired by the same company and same individual. Please Give Me Legal Advice?
The first thing to take a good look at is the employment contract that you had signed with the agency who found this employment for you. Have a look at the agencies code of practice and code of conduct regarding the suitability of conditions that are applicable to the type of work that you were contracted to do. Raise the matter with the company that you signed with and see if they may have any legal obligations. The thing with employers that hire temps and agency workers , is that they wont have to pay liability insurances and and indemnity insurances if they employ you for less than one month, and looking at the record of this particular company they are certainly doing this, but alas it is not an illegal constitute law as they can state that your work was not up to a certain standard , or as in your case , too many mistakes had been made, this is how they can get away with it, so to speak. To try and contest this matter in a law court would be a lengthy and costly matter to yourself and if the company had won their case , you may have incurred costs and a blacklisted name for future employment. Seek legal advice through the citizens advice centre only after you have researched the employment contract, and have seen someone in the agency regarding this matter. Personally i feel you will be fighting an ongoing losing battle and you may have to cut your losses and move on to a better working environment for yourself, but if you do persue this, i wish you all the best of luck and dont let the bast*rds grind you down....Please Give Me Legal Advice?
Yeah, it sounds like they are just using people short term to do work that no one else wants to do. I would report this trend to the company that you were hired through and let them deal with it.
i really dont have no advice but dont let this go that is wrong what they did to u expically u were assigned to a job but put u somewere els that is wack well hope things go well.
A lot of peoply (I'm not being rude just honest) don't realize they can in fact be terminated whenever and however the employer decides. People have even lost jobs over having cancer, sad and unfortunate, but quite legal. Employeers have more rights than people want to believe or bother to look into.

you have no case, sorry.
I think that you would have a hard job to challenge their decision to let you go after such a short period.

However they should have followed their own disciplinary process and if they have not then you may well have a case. visit your local Citizens Advice Bureau.

You should also be given appropriate notice as per your contract of employment or pay in lieu of notice.
Many companies nowadays use agencies to complete backlogs which is wrong they give people false hope of perm contracts. unfortunately you have falling into this loop and legally you cannot challenge their decision and if you do they will hire another agency and continue with the process. Very sorry it has has happened to me too and all you can do is feel bitter and move on im affraid.
You could go to the citizens advice bureau, or consult a solicitor, but I really think it would be of little use as you had only been in the job for a very short time. The best thing you can do, is to put it down to experience, and find a new position with a better employer, who will actually give you the training you need to carry out the tasks you are required to perform. I am sorry that you had this unfortunate experience, but unfortunately, there are people like that out there. If you find yourself temping at a place such as this, then you should report the matter to any agency that has placed you there, and if you found the job by yourself, then walk. Don't let people like this push you about. Good luck in finding something else.
NUmber one, are you a qualified Analyst? and was that the title of the position when it was posted? If so, in real time, THAT's what I have would insisted on starting out to be! Throwing you into a job which, perhaps you were NOT familiar with, I would have come to a screaming halt, and told him that in order to submit to his ';request';, you would need some kind of training! I am assuming, you were just thrown into the job, right? without any quidance! Naturally, plodding through unfamiliar territory, you are bound to make mistakes, and the jackass should have taken that into account! OH! I have worked for someone like your EX-BOSS!! This guy is NOT qualified to hire or fire anyone! I wonder what HIS boss thinks of HIS performance!? Believe me, a large turn-over of employees in a company is NOT good for THEIR image!! Talk to the owner of the investment company, maybe he doesn't know what's going on! Normally, companies give employees a ninety day probation period. Three weeks is NOT enouth time for a person to judge another. They have barely got their feet wet! Anyway, you don't have to declare that you ever worked at that place! If the next employer asks you what you were doing duing that time, the answer is - looking for a job!! Period! I don't know what this guy's game is, but he is out of line! He is just messing with people's lives! If you decide to persue all this, gather up up as many of EX's as you can find, and GO GET HIM!!! Good luck and God Bless!
