Need renters legal advice?

We just moved out of a place and we do admit we still owed some rent and we did not stay the full month either. It was left clean we even took pictures. The problem is the landlord now wants to take the remainder of the rents month out of the cleaning deposit. We thought that was a totally different account so can they do that? They are also stalling on paying. If you are an attorney please let me know.FYI this landlord and her son who maneges the place have been taken to court by past rents for many different resons in the past the rent won their cases. We are not sue happy we just want to know where we stand.Need renters legal advice?
She can take any damages she needs to from the deposit, and unpaid rent woudl be damages.Need renters legal advice?
You are contractually obligated to pay the rent through the end of the lease term, no matter when you moved out. The deposit is a deposit to cover unpaid amounts relating to your renting the place, which would cover unpaid rent, cleaning, and repairs beyond normal wear. Typically, the landlord has 30 days after the end of the lease (not when you moved out) to return your deposit. If the landlord doesn't return the entire deposit, he/she is required to send you an itemized list of charges that were deducted from your deposit.
Deposit deduction include cleaning, damages, late fees and UNPAID RENT.

You admit that you left owing money. Why do you think your entitled not to pay what you owe?
