I need legal advice. My husband purchased what we thought was newly brand newa nd now its a lemony car?

my husband purchased an 99 intrepid for $2300.00 on 1-25-08. when we bought the car things were okay. A couple of weeks later things started happening to the car like for insatnce the heat blower went out. You could hear the heat on but it was just blowing out cold air (in the winter). My husbnad finally took it to the auto shop and they gave my husband a total estimate on the car. It came out to be over $800.00 dollars in repairs. To me thats basically paying another bill. There was different things that needed to be done with the car like something called an axle, then its something about an alignment. I dont know where they got their cars from but something seem fishy about this dealership. So on an legal advice what can i do to get my money worth.I need legal advice. My husband purchased what we thought was newly brand newa nd now its a lemony car?
Unfortunately, there are no Used Car Lemon Laws that cover a 9 year old car. Only a handful of states even have used car lemon laws, and they are quite strict. In your case, there is no legal recourse. The car was purchased As-Is. Good Luck.I need legal advice. My husband purchased what we thought was newly brand newa nd now its a lemony car?
A nine year-old car could never be construed as new in any kind of way. It was a used car, buyer beware, unless there was a warranty included.

Lemon laws apply only to brand new cars that you are the very first owner of. To qualify as a true lemon, it had to come straight from the factory with problems. Problems that come from normal wear and tear or from the last owner not taking care of the car do not apply.

It sucks, but unless you got a warranty with this car, you have to pay to get it fixed, it's a used car.

An attorney would cost MUCH more than the bill to fix the car, and unless you have a warranty that the dealership is refusing to honor, you have no case for an attorney to pursue. You can complain to your local Better Business Bureau, your state's attorney general, and anyone else you can think of, but it's normally ';buyer beware, purchase as is'; on most used cars, especially cars as old as this one.
Unfortunately, don't think you have any recourse with that automobile. Usually, most states have lemon laws for used car purchases for about 36 hours. After that, you kinda on your own. You could argue that the car was sold in bad condition but you can't prove the condition of the car at purchase ( because if you could - you wouldn't have bought the car anyway right ? ). The people who sold you the car will tell you that car was sold as is with no warrenty - unless you bought one ( side note some states make used car dealerships give you a 1000 mile warrenty ) - and that the damage was caused by your caring for the car not by them... It a rock and a hard place unfortunately...

I would see if you state has 1000 mile warrently laws for used car and see if you have gone over that 1000 miles since you purchased that vehicle - that is probably your best recourse. Sorry for the bad news but when you buy a used car, you really need to check it out very carefully ( take it to a mechanic ) run a carfax on it and buyer beware...

Good Luck...
You bought a 9 year old used car. You get what you pay for. It is the buyer's responsibility to determine the condition of a used car before buying it. There isn't much you can do, used cars are sold ';as is';, without warranty.
Did it have a warranty or did it say ';As is';. If it said as is you are stuck. You do not say how many miles are on the car, but the repairs you mention are not unusual for that year car.
Well you do not have much recourse if it was gotten AS IS.

Did it come with any warren tee or a so many miles ?

When you buy a used car, you are the one to check it out.

Most cars from a person are just that, AS IS.

You can contact the person that sold you the car and check with them, but if it had no warren tee you will have to make the repairs
Look up your local ';lemon laws.'; They vary from state to state, but you should be able to learn more about them online. If you find your dealer misrepresented the car according to the law, make sure you let him know you will be letting your lawer know.
you bought a used car, they usually are sold as is with no warranty. you should have had it inspected by another mechanic before you bought it
You will not be able to do anything unless there was a written warranty or you can prove that the seller knew of the problems at the time of the sale, other than that the vehicle was sold ';AS-IS'; and that is the end of that, sorry.
