Ok my name is Dakota Tavares i live in lancaster california my good friend of 4 bout to be 5 years is being abused physically and with words shes 15 years old bout to be 16 in october im 17 years old and im a guy i was best friends with her brother but he was seriously brain washed by his weird dad and we stopped hanging out the dad was always threatning to kill me and stuff he has thrown knives before at my friend who is 15 she is my and my familys main concern .its really hard to explain but id like to talk to anyone that can give me advice. some more detail is her mom is really weird she used to be a big time druggy and very VERY delusional she said i was doing crack before when i was answering the door i even had to take a drug test and out of my own free will went on a lie detector test to prove ive never touched anything and even the daughter ( the 15 year old) my family really wants to take the 15 year old girl in as one of are own we have no income or anything but we have alot of money well enough to get us by and pay bills and have extra to spend we get it legally. Just recently the 15 year old ran away for 2 days and the mom started harassing me and my family really bad with police and everything they came in and looked around and all. she later came to my house 2 days later of course around 12 at night and we took her home right away after she cleaned her face ( was filthy think she slept in the desert or sumthing) the mom of this girl is very very problematic and she is abusive today i got a call from the 15 year old and she said she was running away and i talked her out of it then i asked why and she said *my mom started hitting me today over my ipod she cut my lip and scratched my arm up* i used to hang around this family alot that is nothing compared to what ive seen before she once grabbed her by the hair and punched her in the face. but i told her to call the police and explain everything. i havent heard anything from her at all and my question is Please please help us with this. Is there anyway we can get a case or somthing on the mom and get the 15 year old to be able to stay with us even though we dont have income but we have enough to support her and her needs. my mom and step dad have a criminal record ( but then again her whacked parents also do) my mom also recently got sued before which she plans on paying it was from a trip to sacermento when we moved awhile back and her boyfriend then never paid off for.. it isnt her fault but anyways is there anyway we can get her to be able to come stay with us even if my parents have a criminal record but nothin bad has happend recently for a long time..my mom has financial debts or whatever to pay off which she is doing slowly but the basics of it is we have money enough to support us all and have spare left over for clothes and everything and food. lol i know im repeating myself but we really care for her and she really loves it over here at are house we talk to her nicely (Note::im not her boyfriend we used to date long time ago years ago bout 2 but when i started to figure out all the family problems we spilt and i care for her like a sister she tells me everything) we make sure she eats and everything else, IS THERE ANYWAYS SHE CAN LEGALLY STAY WITH US i dont want this 15 year old to run away again and end up getting raped or kid napped or sumthin and i know she is real real soon. ID appreicate any helpful advice if u can id like for u to leave a number where i can contact u at if your well experianced so i can ask more questions and get more detailed about the situation. she should file to become a legally emancipated minor. your family ,no offense, does not sound suitable for her either. you have no legal claim to her, you are not related, and cannot prove you have her best interest and not some personal interest in it. the court will never give custody of achild to a friends family that has no income, is in debt, has been sued, and has criminals for parents, even if they arent recent crime, it doesnt matter. you have no legal ground. i am not trying to be mean, just giving you the advice you asked for. emancipation is the only real option she has, or filing a police report. even contacting social services.
